Craig Prater


Craig Prater, President of Heartland International Film Festival joined the 30-year old organization in 2016. Previous to his current position, he served with Founder of PSIFF and entertainer Sonny Bono as the Executive Director of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, co-founded the PS International Short Film Festival and co-founded the Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival. After his tenure in Palm Springs, he was hired by the Royal Thai government as the Executive Director of the Bangkok International Film Festival for 5 years.

Prater also worked on film festival projects in Capetown, S. Africa and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Before his recent position at Heartland International, he served as the Vice President of Strategic Planning of the San Diego International Film Festival and Executive Director of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival. In addition to his recent responsibilities as President of Heartland International Film Festival, Prater launched the Cultural Journey recognizing a different country each year (2017) and the new Indy Shorts. Both events are produced by Heartland Film.
